As a core component of feed, protein demand is closely related to the feeding habits of fish. For herbivorous fish, such as grass carp in the adult stage, about 22% protein can meet the growth needs. It is worth noting that simply pursuing high protein content is not scientific. We have done comparative experiments with rapeseed meal. Although its protein content is 37%, the amino acid composition is unbalanced, and long-term feeding will lead to decreased immunity of fish.

Raw material selection and processing directly affect feed utilization. In practice, we found that cottonseed meal and peanut meal mixed in a ratio of 3:2 can significantly improve the palatability of grass carp. For carnivorous fish, adding 5-8% fish meal can not only improve protein utilization, but also enhance the attractant effect. It should be noted that the addition ratio of carbohydrate raw materials such as corn needs to be strictly controlled. For example, more than 15% in carp feed will affect digestion and absorption.

During the fattening period of tilapia, the classic combination of 35% soybean cake + 30% bran + 15% fish meal can be used, and the feed coefficient is stable at around 2.3.
For grass carp mixed culture ponds, it is recommended to use a basic formula of 40% rice bran + 38% bran, and adjust the soybean cake ratio according to the water quality. In summer, 2-3% of vitamin premix can be added.
For special breeding such as turtle feed, the proportion of animal raw materials should reach more than 50%, and the combination of puffed soybean powder can improve the molding degree.
