Cause 1: Aging and Deterioration of Seals, Loss of Sealing Performance
Seals in dog food processing machines (such as oil seals and sealing rings) are mostly made of rubber and silicone. Exposed to high temperatures, high pressures, and dusty environments (expanding machine operating temperature 120-160℃, extrusion pressure 4-6MPa), they are highly susceptible to aging, hardening, and cracking, gradually losing their sealing elasticity and leading to lubricant leakage. Actual test data shows that the service life of ordinary seals is approximately 800-1000 hours. If not replaced in time, the aging rate can reach over 80%, significantly increasing the probability of oil leakage. Especially in continuous high-intensity production scenarios, the aging rate of seals can accelerate by 30%-50%. Common leakage points are the screw shaft end oil seal and the gearbox output shaft seal. The leakage gradually progresses from initial dripping to jetting leakage, severely impacting production.

Cause 2: Improper Seal Installation, Localized Damage
The installation accuracy of the seals in a dog food extruder machine directly determines the sealing effect. Improper installation can easily lead to uneven stress, deformation, or damage to the seals, resulting in oil leaks-a human-caused factor that is easily overlooked. For example, failing to apply lubricant correctly when installing the screw shaft oil seal can cause excessive friction between the seal and the shaft surface, resulting in minor damage after installation. Excessive force or misalignment during seal ring installation can cause tearing at the seal edges, preventing effective sealing. Furthermore, dust and impurities introduced during installation can accelerate seal wear, shorten service life, and indirectly cause oil leaks.

Cause 3: Improper Seal Selection, Insufficient Compatibility
The seals in a dog food pellet making machine must be compatible with the equipment's operating temperature, pressure, and lubricant type. Improper selection, even with proper installation and no aging, can still lead to oil leaks. For example, using ordinary normal-temperature seals in a high-temperature extruder (operating temperature ≥140℃) will cause the seals to soften and deform rapidly, losing their sealing performance. Incompatibility between the selected seal material and the lubricating oil can lead to swelling and shrinkage, increasing the sealing gap and causing lubricating oil leakage. It is recommended to use high-temperature and high-pressure resistant fluororubber seals suitable for the working environment of a dog food pellet extruder, and to match them with the equipment's specific lubricating oil type to avoid oil leaks caused by improper selection from the outset.
