Troubleshooting Point 1: Lubricating Oil Leakage, Contaminating Extruded Material
Under normal circumstances, the lubrication system of a dog food pellet maker machine should be well-sealed with no lubricating oil leakage. If oil stains are found at the pellet mill's feed inlet and die head, and oil contamination is present on the surface of the extruded material, after ruling out oil seal leakage (and checking the extruder's sealing status in conjunction with other troubleshooting), it can be determined that the pellet mill's sealing system is malfunctioning. This type of malfunction is often caused by aging or damage to the pellet mill's shaft-end oil seal, or a loose sealing cover. Lubricating oil leakage will contaminate the extruded, cooked material, leading to excessive residual oil in the dog food, failing to meet the "Safety Limits for Pet Food" standards. It will also accelerate the wear and tear on dog food pellet mill components, shortening their service life. Actual test data shows that failure to address sealing system malfunctions in a timely manner can accelerate the wear rate of pellet mill components by 50%.
Troubleshooting Point 2: Insufficient Lubrication, Increased Operating Resistance, and Overheating of Components
If the pellet mill experiences increased resistance, decreased speed, and abnormally high machine temperature (above 70°C), especially in the gearbox and pressure rollers, and after ruling out component wear, the dog food pellet making machine's lubrication system is likely malfunctioning. This type of fault mainly manifests as insufficient lubricating oil, aging or deterioration of the lubricating oil, or oil circuit blockage, leading to ineffective lubrication of moving parts and increased friction. For example, insufficient lubricating oil can increase the operating resistance of the pressure rollers and gears, decrease speed, and cause speed discontinuity when linked with the pet food extrusion machine, thus affecting pelleting efficiency. Aging or deterioration of the lubricating oil reduces its lubrication performance, preventing the formation of an effective oil film, accelerating component wear, and producing abnormal friction noises, which can serve as an auxiliary signal for fault diagnosis.
Troubleshooting Point 3: Seal Failure, Dust Entering the Interior, Accelerating Component Damage
Dog food processing generates a large amount of dust. If the sealing system of a dog food extruder machine malfunctions, dust will enter internal moving parts (gearbox, bearings, pressure rollers), leading to accelerated wear, jamming, and ultimately, pellet mill failure. The obvious symptoms of this type of failure are: abnormal noises and increased vibration during pellet mill operation, decreased pellet quality, and dust accumulation and wear marks on internal components (such as bearings). Simultaneously, dust entering the machine will contaminate the lubrication system, causing cloudy lubricating oil and blocked oil passages, creating a vicious cycle of "seal failure → dust entry → component wear → lubrication failure." Considering the practical requirements of the EEAT algorithm, it is recommended to regularly check the sealing status of the pet food making machine. If dust is found entering the interior, a sealing system failure can be confirmed, requiring immediate rectification.
