To make wood pellets, a single wood pellet mill is usually not enough, because you are not likely to have raw materials meeting the requirement of making pellets right away. For making wood pellets, the moisture content of raw materials should be between 10%-18%, and the size should be less than that of holes on ring dies. As the hole size of ring die are commonly 6mm, 8mm and 12mm, the required size of raw material is 3-5mm. There are solutions to address these problems to make pelletizing possible.
* Dryer
If the moisture content of your materials does not align with the requirement, you need a flash dryer or rotary drum dryer to
reduce the water content. Flash dryer is suitable for small-size material, while rotary drum dryer applies to larger size
materials.
* Hammer Mill
If your raw material is too large for direct pelletizing. To reduce the size of raw materials, a wood hammer mill is needed. There are large and small hammer mills options available depending on your required capacity. It is able to cut materials into fine pieces whose diameter is from 2mm to 5mm making it suitable for pelletizing.
* Screw conveyor
Screw conveyors are used to convey raw material from almost any position (vertical, horizontal, or at an incline) and are one of the most reliable methods of conveyance. The screw conveyor is composed of a pipe with a welded steel strip that is formed into a continuous helix. It used to automate feeding process to enable continuous operation of a pellet machine.
